new toys

Quick note: I've been mucking about with my layout and pages and things. I decided to revise and republish my statements on atheism and childfreedom as posts. I just don't think they need to be separate pages (for now they're here and here). So if they pop up in your reader, that's what that's about. Not trying to beat anyone over the head with them - just rearranging the furniture a bit. I also took down my Life List page, because it felt braggy. And the Message to Readers page, because I'd rather let my blog's qualities/shortcomings speak for themselves, if that makes sense.

In other non-news, Chaucer came with me today to put a down payment on the bike I found the other day (it's a Torker Interurban). Layaway: the salvation of poors like me. I really like the shop I'm purchasing from. The employees are super friendly, and they even gave Chaucer a tennis ball to play with while he was waiting for me. Doesn't look like it here, but he's been obsessed with it all afternoon. New toy = extremely happy pup.

I'm crazy excited about the bike. I haven't gotten a new toy like this in ages, so I'm a happy pup, too. Having no car means that I can't get anywhere faster than about four miles an hour (unless public transportation is involved). Just wheeling around on the bike a little bit to test it out, I feel like I'm on a freakin' rocket. I'm really looking forward to being able to cover some real ground and explore the areas neighboring downtown.
